Where glass regret was born
All six photos were taken at one home on one afternoon in December 2019. The owner had put glass on one side of the pool and PoolPerf® on the other. Then they invited Jason, the founder of PoolPerf®, over for afternoon tea. Not to show off the pool. To show him the mistake.
The view through the glass had gone within weeks. The view through the PoolPerf® was the same as the day it went in. And there was nothing anyone could do about it, because a pool fence is a decision you don't get to take back.
That afternoon is where the words glass regret were first said out loud. We have not found a cure for it since. The only prevention is doing the whole pool in PoolPerf® the first time.
Why PoolPerf® beats glass
Glass is see-through. So is PoolPerf®. After that, the two go their separate ways.
Toughened glass can shatter without being touched. Aluminium can't. Give a PoolPerf® panel a hard knock and it bounces back. Give glass a hard knock and you are sweeping up thousands of pieces around bare feet.
Splash it, bomb it, spray the hose through it. The water goes through the holes and dries. On glass, every drop leaves a mark that somebody has to clean later.
A glass fence wants warm soapy water once a month, and a wipe after every swim to look like the brochure. PoolPerf® wants a hose down now and then. Summers you spend in the pool. Not cleaning it!

“The glass actually burst.” Hear it from the family it happened to. They were tossing up between glass and PoolPerf® when a friend's glass pool fence burst. They were not willing to risk it.
Toughened glass can break with nothing touching it. A tiny stone of nickel sulphide, smaller than a grain of salt, gets trapped inside the glass when it is made. Over months or years it grows, and one day the whole panel lets go. Glass makers know about it. It is why heat-soak testing exists, and heat soaking finds most of those stones, not all of them. No glass manufacturer warranties against it. A PoolPerf® panel is 2.5mm marine-grade aluminium. It has nothing inside it that can grow.

Much of the toughened glass sold for pool fencing in Australia comes in from overseas. It should carry the AS/NZS 2208 safety glass mark. Ask to see it, and ask whether it was heat-soak tested. If the answer is a shrug, that is your answer. Australia has standards. PoolPerf® exceeds them.

Ask the seller to show you the AS/NZS 2208 safety glass mark on the panel or its paperwork, and ask whether the glass was heat-soak tested. If they cannot answer either question, that is your answer.
Any dark metal warms up in full summer sun. 63% of a PurePerf® panel is open air, so there is much less metal to heat than on a solid fence, and the breeze comes straight through it. Glass traps the heat around the pool.
Every PoolPerf® fence is built to exceed AS1926.1 and compliance paperwork comes with every order. Whether your whole pool area passes also depends on how the fence is installed, so your installer or certifier checks it on site.
