PoolPerf® · black perforated aluminium pool fencing
Black is the colour most people choose, and for good reason. It is the one you notice least. Keep scrolling to see why, and real black fences in real backyards.
★★★★★
“Looks a lot cleaner than glass and the black mesh adds to my outdoor look.”John Hall · verified customer
Reason one
A light colour bounces the sun back at you, so your eye stops on the fence. Black soaks the light up. Your eye has nothing to stop on, so it goes straight through to the pool, the garden and the kids.
How PurePerf® is made“It blends beautifully into the background and you can see right through it, even through the corners when you are looking through two panels.”Sam Dawson · verified customer
Reason two
Nobody minds a shadow. It is there, but it rarely gets in the way. A black fence works the same way. It reads as a soft, dark line, and you look past it to the sunset.
Textured Black is the colour we make more of than any other. Now you can see why.
Reason three
Look at the fence beside the deck. Is it glass, or is it PoolPerf®?
It is black PurePerf®.
Up close you can see the holes. From a few steps back, your eye goes straight through to the pool. That is how see-through black is.
Reason four
Old or new, brick or weatherboard. Dark window frames, dark roofs and timber decks are everywhere, so a black fence already matches something you have.
“Pool perf looks awesome, modern and fresh.”Jenny Abbot · verified customer
Textured Black.
A true black, finely textured.
Panels, gates and posts, powder coated in Textured Black and made to measure. It is the colour we quote
when you have not picked one yet.
Look closer
This is a black PurePerf® pool fence. PurePerf® is a plain panel with nothing cut into it, and 63% of every panel is open, so the pool and the kids stay in view.
Drag your finger or mouse across the photo to look closer.
See for yourself
Drag the line across the photo. On one side the view is behind a black sheet, on the other a white one, with exactly the same holes. Black is the one you look straight through. White gives you a little more privacy.
An illustration made from a real backyard photo. Both sheets are drawn with the same holes, the same as PurePerf®. Prefer white? See white pool fencing
Dust and garden dirt show up less on black than on a light colour. Rain does most of the work. An occasional rinse keeps it at its best.
A picture framer puts a thin dark frame around a photo for a reason. It sends your eye to what is inside it.
Posts, gates and frames are powder coated in the same black, so nothing stands out from the rest.
Our two blacks
Monument is a softer, charcoal black. Screen colours are only a guide, so ask for a physical sample before you decide. See all the colours

Designs in black
Cut into black, a pattern looks like trees throwing their shadows across the fence, and you still see through it. This one-off design was drawn for this backyard.

Questions
Black. A dark colour reflects less light, so your eye does not stop on the fence and goes straight through it. White catches the light and gives you a little more privacy. In PurePerf® both colours are 63% open, so either way you can still see the pool.
Because it is the one you notice least. It also suits most houses, goes with dark window frames and roofs, and hides everyday dust better than a light colour.
Any dark metal warms up in full summer sun, and black warms up more than white. Aluminium cools down quickly once the sun moves off it. If little hands on a hot gate are a worry, a lighter colour stays cooler to touch.
Textured Black is a true black with a fine texture. Monument is a softer, charcoal black. You see through both just as easily. Screen colours are only a guide, so ask for a physical sample.
Every powder coat slowly loses a little of its gloss over the years, and it can show a little more on dark colours. Rain does most of the work, and an occasional rinse keeps it at its best. Product Care explains how to look after it and keep the 10-year warranty valid.
No. From a distance it can look like mesh, which is why people often call it that. Up close it is a black aluminium pool fence made from one rigid panel of 2.5mm marine-grade aluminium, with the holes punched straight through it, then powder coated.
Yes. Gates are made to measure in the same black and the same design as your fence, and every gate carries the PoolPerf® plate. See the pool gates.
Yes. The colour does not change how it is built. Every black pool fence we make is built to exceed AS1926.1, the Australian Standard for pool fencing, the same as every other colour.
