Pandanus · Textured Ironstone · Queensland

It is the law to fence the pool. So why not fence it the way you want?

Thirty one designs · over 100 colours · or your own

Most pool fences are something you put up with.
This one is something you choose.

In most backyards the pool fence is the biggest single thing you look at. So here is every design we make, shown the way it really looks: in real backyards, mostly photographed by the people who own them. Take your time. Picture your own pool behind each one.

63% of a PoolPerf® panel is open, so air, light and your view all pass straight through. What is left is 2.5mm aluminium, perforated and lasercut, then powder coated. That is why a design works here: the pattern is not stuck on a fence. The pattern is the fence.

Every design, standard or one-off, is checked against AS1926.1, the Australian Standard for pool fencing, before it is cut. Choosing a pattern changes what you look at. It never costs you compliance.

you want to see through.

Every design carries one of three marks. That one decision narrows thirty one designs down to about ten, and it is far easier than picking a favourite leaf. Tap a mark to see only those designs, or tap any design to go straight to it.

The signature panel
Where everyone starts.

No pattern at all. Just the perforations, 63% open, and the clearest view a pool fence can give you.

PurePerf®
The one that disappears.

The original, and still the one most people choose. A clean field of precision perforations, 63% open area, and nothing else asking for your attention. Stand a few metres back and it stops reading as a fence at all - you get the pool, the garden, and whatever is behind them. Everything further down this page is for people who would rather it did not disappear.

Best for Views you do not want interrupted. Modern architecture. Anyone who wants the fence to be the quietest thing in the yard.

Black Gum design PoolPerf panels along a Queensland pool, with gum trees on the skyline beyond

20 designs

Botanical and tropical
Twenty ways to plant a fence.

Gum leaves, palm fronds, monstera, pandanus, banana leaves and flowers. The designs people choose when they want the fence to belong to the garden.

Gum · Textured Black · Queensland

Open

Gum
The one that belongs here.

Australian eucalypt leaves, scattered the way they actually fall. Our most requested decorative design, and the reason is simple - it is the only pattern that looks like it grew out of the garden it is standing in. Put it against native planting and the fence stops reading as a fence.

Best for Native gardens. Blocks with gums already on them. Australian without a flag on it.

Palmy
Holiday, permanently.

Full palm fronds arching across the panel. It does something no other design does - it makes a suburban backyard feel like somewhere you paid to go. Give it a plain wall or a clean fence line so the fronds have room to read.

Best for Coastal and tropical pool areas. Resort-style builds.

Monstera
Big, green, unmissable.

Split leaves at full size, cut clean, with real gaps between them. Monstera is the design people photograph. It works because the leaf shape is readable from right across the yard - nobody has to walk up to it to know what they are looking at.

Best for Rendered walls. Lush planting. Courtyards where the fence is the feature.

Pandanus
The coastal one.

Spiky pandanus fronds - the plant growing behind every good beach in the country. A favourite in beachside builds because it is doing exactly what the dune behind it is doing.

Best for Coastal blocks. Sandy, salty and casual.

Banana in Paradise
Unapologetically tropical.

Broad banana leaves and flowering heliconia, cut bold. There is nothing subtle about this one and that is exactly the point. It is playful, it is warm, and it makes people smile before they have worked out why.

Best for Queenslanders. Tropical planting. Pool areas that already have personality.

Screening

Ficus
Texture from ten metres, detail from one.

Fine, delicate foliage covering the whole panel. From the house it reads as a soft dark texture. Walk up to it and it resolves into hundreds of individual leaves. Very few patterns reward the close look the way this one does.

Best for Screening with softness. Panels people walk past every day.

Hibiscus
Softer than everything around it.

Open flowers at generous scale with plenty of space between them. The gentlest design we make, and it changes the temperature of a pool area - less architecture, more garden.

Best for Softening a hard-edged build. Gardens with real flowers in them.

Palm
One frond. That is the whole idea.

A single upright palm leaf with generous space around it and nothing crowded. The most restrained design in the tropical family and often the most sophisticated - it gives you the note without the whole song.

Screening

Monstera 2
Same leaf, more of it.

A denser Monstera layout with the leaves overlapping. You give up a little openness and get real screening back - useful when the pool sits close to a neighbour or a road.

Best for Boundary runs. Anywhere you want the pattern and some privacy with it.

Fig Leaves

Bamboo
Calm, vertical, quiet.

Fine canes running top to bottom with leaves scattered along them. The vertical rhythm does something useful - it makes a narrow panel look taller and a long run look ordered.

Best for Narrow returns. Tall panels. Calm modern gardens.

Screening

Heavy Bamboo
The stand, not the stem.

Leaves
The one that suits everything.

A loose natural scatter with no obvious repeat and no strong direction. The safest decorative design we make - and safe is not an insult here. It means it will still look right in fifteen years.

Leaf Vein
Skeleton, not silhouette.

A single leaf rendered as veining - all structure, no fill. The finest detail in the range, and it does something clever. From a distance it reads almost as an accident of light. Then it resolves.

Climber

Florely
The most ornamental thing we cut.

An all-over floral with almost no quiet ground anywhere in it. Closer to lace than to fencing, and it belongs to a particular kind of house. If it is your kind of house, nothing else will do.

Flower Power

Nahosh
Structure, symmetry, shadow.

A crisp geometric lattice with a Moroccan influence. It behaves differently from every botanical on this page - in low sun it throws a pattern across the paving that is as good as the panel itself.

The thirty designs above are a starting point, not a limit. Send us the idea: the turtles for a family who dive, the horses from the paddock, the dogs, the kookaburra that sits on the back fence every morning. Same aluminium, same powder coat, same compliance. Your picture instead of ours.

Ideas

A design does not have to go
on every panel.

Some of the best fences on this page use a design in just one place. Six ways people have done it.

Gum design panels around a raised spa deck, with bush behind

A design on the gate

Plain panels along the run and one patterned gate, so the pattern sits exactly where everybody walks through.

The whole fence as a picture

A story told across every panel. It reads like a mural from the house, and it is still a pool fence.

The balcony to match

The same design as a balustrade on the deck or balcony, so the house and the pool read as one.

Over 100 colours

Same design.
A different fence.

The design decides what people see. The colour decides how much. Here is Gum, our most requested design, in five colours at five real homes.

Light colours
show the pattern.

Surfmist, white and primrose make the design the whole event. The eye stops at the panel, so they give you the most privacy too.

Dark colours
show the view.

Black falls into shadow and the eye travels straight through it to the garden. It is the most popular colour we sell for exactly that reason.

“It’s worth checking out the density of each pattern as some allow for more view.”

There is no wrong answer

A design is personal.
Choose the one you love.

Some people want the fence to disappear, and PurePerf® does that better than anything. Some want it to be the first thing visitors talk about. Most land somewhere in between: plain along the long runs, and a design where they will see it every day.

If you are torn, do what the owners on this page did. Look at the house rather than the garden, decide how much you want to see through, then pick the one you keep coming back to. And if you would like a second opinion, that is what the free Design Consult is for.

Questions

Designs and colours,
your questions answered.

Quick answers

How many pool fence designs are there?

Thirty one: the plain PurePerf panel and thirty patterned designs, in four families - botanical and tropical, wildlife and coastal, geometric and abstract. Past that, any design you can draw can be cut as a one-off.

Can I have my own design cut into my pool fence?

Yes. Send us a photo, a sketch or a few words. We draw it up as a proof of the whole fence, panel by panel, you change it until it is right, and nothing is cut until you approve it. Turtles, horses, the family dogs, a kookaburra, the farm: they have all been done. See the one-offs.

Does a design still meet the pool fence rules?

Yes. Every design, standard or one-off, is checked against AS1926.1, the Australian Standard for pool fencing, before it is cut, so choosing a pattern never costs you compliance. Heights, gaps, the gate and the clear zone around the fence still have to be right along the whole length, which your installer checks.

Which designs give the most privacy?

The ones marked Screening: Heavy Bamboo 2 is the densest, then Heavy Bamboo, Monstera 2, Ficus, Florely, Flower Power, Autumn, Feathery and Coral. Colour matters as much as the pattern. A light colour like Surfmist or white shows the pattern strongly and gives the most privacy.

Which design is the most see-through?

PurePerf, the plain panel, in Textured Black. 63% of the panel is open and black falls into shadow, so your eye goes straight through it. The designs marked Open come next.

What colours can I choose?

Over 100, from the Dulux and Interpon powder coat ranges. Textured Black is the most popular, Monument and Woodland Grey are softer, and Surfmist and white show a pattern most clearly. Ask for a physical sample before you decide, because screens never show a colour exactly.

More detail

Can I mix a design with plain panels?

Yes, and it is the most popular way to do it: plain PurePerf® along the long runs so you can see through, and one design panel or a design gate where people look. More ideas on Mix & Match.

Can I put a design on the gate?

Yes. A design gate in a plain fence is one of the nicest ways to use a pattern. Every gate carries the PoolPerf plate.

What have people had cut as one-off designs?

Sea turtles, dolphins, whales and manta rays, horses, the family dogs, kookaburras on gum branches, pelicans, a farm with its windmill, a horse and rider, and a motorbike. If it can be drawn, it can usually be cut.

How does a one-off design work?

Tell us the idea, we draw it as a proof of the whole fence, you approve it, and then it is cut, powder coated and assembled in Queensland. Everything is fully designed and approved before it goes to the factory.

Can I use the same design on a balcony or deck?

Yes. The designs are also made as balustrade panels, so the deck, the balcony and the pool fence can match. See the pool balustrade.

How do I look after a design panel?

Exactly the same as a plain one. A rinse with the hose every 3 to 6 months inland, or every 4 to 8 weeks near the coast, keeps the powder coat looking new. Product care.

Are the panel previews on this page photographs?

No. The panel previews show each design's real cutting pattern on a panel in front of the same soft backyard, so the designs can be compared fairly. Everything else on the page is a photograph of a real fence at a real home.

Where can I see the designs in real life?

At the twelve display centres around Australia, including our own Gold Coast showroom, or in the Designs Brochure. Find the nearest display centre.
